Taking Jesus as our model, the theme of EMCC9 - Investing in People will look at issues surrounding discipleship, calling and selection, equipping and empowering for service, preparing for suffering, and working with the broken and the fallen. We will also be tackling issues such as counselling from an Asian perspective, delivering MC via the internet, doing MC in difficult places, building safeguards against internet pornography, and helping short-term teams. For the first time, participants at EMCC9 will include those working in Human Resources. Attendance at EMCC9 will provide you with the opportunity to qualify for CE credits. Speakers include Harry Hoffmann (DE - Global Member Care Network), Emma Dipper (UK - Release International), Philip Pöschl (AT - Safer Surfing), Ulrike Lorenz (AT - Safer Surfing) and Hartmut Stricker (DE). ELIM Retreats, a ministry of Barnabas International, will offer 8 renewal retreats for global workers in the States in 2014. If you are planning a home assignment in the States in 2014, be sure to put this in your schedule first.
WHO IS SERVED? Most of the Retreats are for missionary singles or couples. However, in 2014, we will offer one Retreat for whole families that are returning to the States for home assignment.
WHERE ARE THEY HELD? In Michigan and Wisconsin. Both settings are private and exceptionally beautiful natural settings.
PURPOSE? We offer low-key but intentional times of spiritual renewal, recovery and revival for global workers. Emphasis is on spiritual formation and preventative pastoral care, rather than on formal debriefing or crisis/depth counseling.
HOW "BUSY" IS THIS RETREAT? We provide a balance between focused opportunities to worship and interact with the Word in small groups, with plenty of open time to rest, sleep, worship, wander and play.
COST: $80.00 per person for 5 nights, 6 days. Scholarships available.

Penhurst Retreat Centre - UK
Penhurst has a heart for mission, and specialises in support for mission partners, cross cultural workers and full-time Christian workers from the UK and overseas. We are a member Global Connections and our staff are committed to serving the mission community in every way possible.
We offer individuals or couples an opportunity to reflect on and talk about their experiences in ministry. We believe that you are in ministry if you are actively engaged in ‘meeting people where they are and helping them to get to where God wants them to be’. We recognise that some of us are called to minster in our home countries and others are called to do this overseas.
Personal debriefing is often done over the course of two or three hours, depending on individual need. There is an opportunity to discuss the difficult and stressful parts of ministry, as well as to share positive memories.
If relevant, we can also talk about how to recognise any signs of stress, and consider what might help. People who have recently returned from overseas may also choose to reflect on the transition to their home country. Future plans can be shared, and prayer may be offered.

ELIM Renewal Retreats for Missionaries & Pastors - USA
Barnabas International and ELIM Retreat Ministries have posted dates for their 2013 Retreats on line at www.elimretreats.org
ELIM Retreats are renewal retreats for missionary and pastoral singles and couples. They are 6 days in length. The retreats are low key but intentional times of spiritual renewal, recovery and revival for international global workers and for full time local church pastors. The focus is deepening in a love relationship with Jesus Christ. Quiet study times are oriented towards Scriptural themes that emphasise spiritual formation and personal debriefing of where we really are in terms of spiritual growth. The Retreats are not meant to provide deep psychological counselling, but preventive pastoral care, and physical, emotional and spiritual renewal. The Retreats should not be construed as a "vacation", but a quiet and intentional time of hearing again the "still small voice."

MA in Member Care - UK
Taught by experts in the field, Redcliffe College’s new MA in Member Care recognises the need to have a Biblical basis underpinning practice, as well as understanding cross-cultural perspectives and their effect on individuals and groups. Challenges such as crisis response and trauma debriefing will be addressed, and there is the opportunity to focus on a specific context or Member Care issue through an optional module.
This MA is available in flexible learning mode. Students complete the MA over 3-4 years, studying in a combination of three-week summer school residential intensives, and self-study with email support (on average 10-15 hours a week).
